"Bayer" Leverkusen's attacking midfielder Florian Wirtz is tired of jokes about potatoes.

The 21-year-old German "cooked up" some porridge in April this year when he filmed a lively clip.

The player was then asked to rank his favorite potato dishes.

Shortly after, this video went viral online, and the footballer became the central figure of various jokes.

Now the athlete is urging fans to "let off steam."

"People who know me don't understand why this clip became an internet hit. Still, I do like potatoes,"

"On the other hand, I'm trying to ignore the people who shout such phrases at me from all sides. It's too annoying, but it's no longer funny," Wirtz said.
