Kaunas Žalgiris broke Telšiai Džiugas

In the central match of the 25th round in Telšiai, after a tough battle, the guests from Kaunas celebrated victory. Three goals by Filipas Dangubičius allowed the Žalgiris team to enjoy a dramatic win 3:2 (1:1).

At the start of the match, the Žalgiris players controlled the ball for a longer time, while the Telšiai team defended compactly and looked for opportunities to counterattack. After 10 minutes, Nino Noordanus took a strong shot from distance, but his attempt was blocked by a defender, and Leifo Estevez's shot went into the hands of goalkeeper Deividas Mikelionis.

A few moments later, the Kaunas team responded with a dangerous chance – after Gratas Sirgėdas' pass, Vilius Armanavičius tried to direct the ball into the net from close range, but goalkeeper Ivanas Baturinas played successfully.

In the 16th minute, the 'Kauno Žalgiris' footballers made their mark in the match – an excellent combination by the Kaunas players ended with a precise shot by F. Dangubičius into the far bottom corner of the net.

The Telšiai team quickly responded with their own attacking play – after L. Estevez's pass from the flank, the leading striker N. Noordanus made an accurate shot.

Having already registered an assist, G. Sirgėdas was close to scoring, but the Latvian I. Baturinas saved the team again.

At the very beginning of the second half, the duo of G. Sirgėdas and F. Dangubičius struck again, although the Croatian's shot was denied by the Telšiai goalkeeper, who played well once more.

In the 51st minute, the unstoppable striker F. Dangubičius found himself at the tip of the attack, delivering a strong and accurate shot to the top corner of the net, putting the guests ahead once again.

The Kaunas players, who had a chance to double the lead, were punished in the 81st minute – after a cross from the flank, Meinardas Mikulėnas, who had just appeared on the field, scored with a header.

However, this was still not the end. With four minutes remaining until the end of regular time, an 11-meter penalty was awarded against "Džiugas", which was converted by F. Dangubičius, who scored another goal that evening.

With this victory, the Kaunas team confidently stands third, while the defeated "Džiugas" is a step lower.
