Žalgiris of Kaunas secures third place after defeating Dainava

A tough match took place in the "TOPsport A Lyga" championship between Alytaus DFK "Dainava" and "Kauno Žalgirio" football players. The outcome of the match was determined by a single accurate shot from Vilius Armanavičius, which allowed the Kaunas team to celebrate victory with a score of 1:0 (1:0).

Already in the first attack of the meeting, Kaunas player Artūras Dolžnikovas created a chance for a shot, but the ball flew past the goal. After a few more minutes, Oyilola Kayode and Gratas Sirgėdas attempted dangerous shots, but goalkeeper Volodymyr Krynskyi did not need to get involved in the action.

Hampered by injuries this season, the Kaunas team was forced to make a substitution in the middle of the first half. Davidas Martinas Anane was injured and left the field.

In the 44th minute, the Kaunas team organized a productive attack – O. Kayode received the ball on the wing, deceived his opponent, and passed the ball to Vilius Armanavičius, who scored the first and only goal of the match.

After the break, Antonas Fase, who stepped onto the field, tested the vigilance of the Alytus goalkeeper, but the "Dainava" keeper caught the ball.

In the 62nd minute, another fire flared up near the home team’s goal – A. Fase found himself at the forefront of the attack again, but his powerful shot was saved by V. Krynskis.

In the remaining time, the Dainava players tried to liven up the game with substitutions, but failed to create any sharper danger near the goal defended by Deividas Mikelionis.

Having extended their unbeaten match streak, the Kaunas team remains in third place in the tournament table, while "Dainava" is in seventh.
