The return of goalkeeper David De Gea to professional football was not a bed of roses.
After a 446-day hiatus, the newcomer to Fiorentina failed to adequately protect the team's goal during the Conference League qualifying match against the Hungarian team Puskás – 3:3.
According to the Italian media, this could be a decisive performance – from now on, coach Raffaele Palladino may trust the other goalkeeper Pietro Terracciano even more.
The 34-year-old Italian is expected to remain a key player in the Serie A championship, while De Gea will have to settle for cup tournament matches.
This information was confirmed last weekend when Terracciano displayed solid play in the local championship match against Venezia – 0:0.
