“Leicester City” returned to the English “Premier” League this season, but there was no doubt that points would be deducted from the “Foxes” for violations of financial fair play rules.
From the 2020-2021 season to the 2022-2023 season, the “Leicester” club incurred losses of over £129 million, while the current regulations allowed for a maximum loss of no more than £105 million.
However, representatives of the “Leicester” club found a loophole in these rules, and at least for now, they will avoid penalties.
The court accepted the club's arguments, which stated that the reporting period ended on June 30, 2023, but by that time, “Leicester” had already been relegated from the “Premier” League, meaning the league does not have the right to penalize the team.
The “Premier” League has the option to appeal this decision.
