The young Lamine Yamalis has received another recognition.
Yesterday it was announced that the 17-year-old talent has been included in the list of 30 candidates for the "Ballon d'Or" trophy.
Interestingly, among the nominees for the first time since 2003, there are no longer both superstars – Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. Neither will a player like Rodrygo have a chance.
As L. Yamalis told "France Football," he does not strive to compare himself to any football celebrity.
"The most important thing for me is to leave my mark in football and have my own career. Of course, comparisons with L. Messi are too significant to ignore."
"The truth is, if you are being compared to the greatest footballer of all time, it means everything is going really well.”
"That doesn't annoy me, but of course, I always want to be myself,” L. Yamalis assured.
