Lithuanian football referee Donatas Rumšas contributed to a historic moment in the Champions League.

D. Rumšas showed the first red card in the new format tournament.

The red card was shown to Lille's central midfielder Angelis Gomes. After receiving a second yellow card, he also received a red. The referee lost patience when the Englishman unnecessarily fouled Sporting's leader Viktor Gyokeres.
