"Manchester United" club head coach Erik ten Hag stated after the 0:0 draw with London’s "Crystal Palace" that they should have won and addressed Marcus Rashford, who started the match on the bench:
"We should have won. In the first half, we allowed them to stay in the game. We should have scored one or two goals. The second half was more balanced.
We worked very hard as a team to be compact in defense. We also wanted to control the ball and have good structure."
"It wasn’t difficult to leave Marcus Rashford out of the starting lineup because rotation was needed.
Alejandro Garnacho also needs to start to be better and have more energy. So, we need to rotate the squad."
I heard Jamie Redknapp's speculation that for some reason I benched M. Rashford. That’s unbelievable. I would say that something must be wrong with someone when they make such statements out of nowhere...
This is simply rotation and has nothing to do with the player himself, as I’m very satisfied with Rash: both his defensive and offensive contributions, as the Englishman has started to score goals.
He is playing very well, so sitting on the bench has nothing to do with him."
