"Aston Villa" started with a bang in the UEFA Champions League.
On Wednesday, the English club secured its second victory out of as many possible matches, this time defeating European giant Bayern Munich at home with a minimal score of 1:0.
The only goal of the match was scored by Jhon Duran with a beautiful strike in the 79th minute, while Aston Villa was repeatedly saved by goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez.
After the match, Aston Villa's coach Unai Emery was pleased that his team has the opportunity to compete against clubs like Bayern.
"European matches are always special. However, there is a difference between playing in the Conference, Europa, or Champions League. In the Champions League, we have the chance to battle against the best teams in the world.
The victory is not even the most important thing. The most important thing is that we can be here.
I am proud of my team and the work they did on the pitch. We wanted to go out on the field and fight. It doesn’t matter if we win, lose, or draw; the most important thing is the fight and dedication on the pitch.
Anything could have happened in this match, but moments like Duran's goal or Martinez's performance determined our victory," U. Emery said while speaking with Sky Sports.
