Vilnius "Žalgiris" surprised its fans with a newly initiated campaign.

Just a couple of years ago, the club received millions of euros (€3.85 million increase in the 2022 club budget – editor's note) from participating in the UEFA Conference League group stage and started asking for funds from fans and companies.

The Vilnius club is trying to raise an initial deposit of €1 million to qualify for the purchase of the LFF stadium.

"Today, the renewed "Žalgiris” not only aims for victories but also educates our younger generation. One of the most important conditions for this goal is a permanent home for "Žalgiris.” Unfortunately, the future of the only stadium in Vilnius that meets high international standards, located in Liepkalnis, is uncertain,” the club's statement reads.

"We aim to have a home for the "Žalgiris” academy – to become the owners of the stadium.

In recent years, "Žalgiris” has been playing at the LFF stadium (Liepkalnio / Stadiono St.), which does not belong to the club – we are only tenants of the stadium. The current owners – the Lithuanian Football Federation – announced some time ago their intention to sell the stadium and relocate.

The aim of the campaign is to raise the initial deposit – €1 million,” states "Žalgiris.”
