Continuing struggles for E. ten Haag: 'We played very well' © scanpix

“Manchester United” continues its tragic performance in the English Premier League.

On Sunday, the “Red Devils” lost 1:2 to “West Ham United” in an away match.

The winning goal was scored by the “Hammers” during the added time by the referee from the penalty spot after the on-field referee's decision was changed by VAR. Due to this decision, “Man Utd” manager Erik ten Hag was very dissatisfied after the match.

“In the decisive moment, VAR definitely did not follow the rule that intervention should only occur if the referee made a clear and obvious mistake.

Before the season, we were informed about the protocol, according to which VAR should only intervene when the referees obviously make a mistake. Therefore, VAR should have overturned Bruno Fernandes' red card in the match against “Tottenham.” Both of these decisions from VAR were incorrect.

I don’t want to criticize anyone personally. I am more upset about the process itself. Of course, that process is controlled by certain people, and these mistakes currently have a huge impact on our season.

We played very well and had many chances, especially in the first half. That’s exactly the kind of performance I want to see from my team. We simply dominated. I counted at least six clear-cut chances that we should have taken.

Luck is not on my or the team's side at the moment. Last season was very similar, but we managed to turn the situation around. We are confident that the same will happen now. Luck will come if we continue to play like this,” said E. ten Hag after the match.
