A large part of Spain was paralyzed by massive floods last week, which claimed more than 200 lives.
The Valencia region was the most affected. For this reason, the matches between Villarreal and Rayo Vallecano, as well as Valencia and Madrid's Real, were postponed last weekend.
Before Tuesday's UEFA Champions League match against AC Milan, Real's coach Carlo Ancelotti expressed his outrage that La Liga matches were held at all over the weekend.
"Everyone had a clear position. No one wanted to play last weekend. However, we do not make the decisions. The league officials make the decisions.
Football is a celebration and we should enjoy it when everything is good. When people are suffering, there is nothing to enjoy or be happy about. Football should have been suspended.
Unfortunately, we have no power to make such decisions. All coaches wanted the matches to be postponed. Some teams played, others did not. Coaches have absolutely no say in such situations,” C. Ancelotti stated at the press conference.
