The well-known French player Ben Yedder has avoided prison.

The court announced its verdict in a case where the player was accused of attempting to sexually assault a woman.

The 34-year-old forward, who has not yet signed with any other team after his contract with Monaco ended this year, will not have to spend time in a prison cell.

The former French national team footballer was given a suspended sentence of two and a half years, along with the obligation to pay 5,000 euros to his victim.

The crime occurred in September of this year when, in a subterranean parking lot, the player began to masturbate in front of a 23-year-old woman and tried to grab her thighs. Later, B. Yedder was caught driving a car and it turned out that the Frenchman was under the influence.

During the trial, the star's lawyers argued that such behavior is a minor crime, and that their client was so drunk at the time that he remembers nothing. According to the defenders, after the unpleasant incident, the player began attending special courses to win the battle against alcoholic beverages.
