The London "Tottenham" football player Rodrigo Bentancur has received a strict penalty from the English Football Association (FA).

The 27-year-old Uruguayan has been handed a seven-match suspension for a racist joke about his teammate Heung-min Son.

During an interview with Uruguayan television, R. Bentancur joked that all Koreans look identical. A TV journalist asked if he could get R. Bentancur's teammate Son's jersey, to which the footballer responded with a racist joke.

"It could be Son's cousin's jersey because they all look identical," R. Bentancur replied.

The "Tottenham" club has decided to try to reduce R. Bentancur's penalty and has submitted an appeal, reports journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The "Spurs" do not expect that the Uruguayan's penalty will be completely lifted, but they are convinced that the seven-match suspension is too harsh.
