D. Mikelionis stays with 'Kauno Žalgiris'

In 2025, goalkeeper Deividas Mikelionis will start the season in the A League with the "Kauno Žalgiris" jersey, as the club has extended its contract with the 29-year-old footballer.

The long-time team goalkeeper completed his tenth season in the country's top league this year. One of those seasons was spent on loan representing the Klaipėda "Atlantas" team.

"From the very beginning, 'Kauno Žalgiris' has always been my team and family. This will be my tenth season in the A League wearing this club's jersey, so I hope it will be special," D. Mikelionis told Žalgiris.lt.

The goalkeeper remains unmatched in the lineup of players who have played matches with the "Kauno Žalgiris" football club jersey. In the A League, he has already played 231 matches in the green and white jersey, adding nearly 30 matches in the LFF Cup and UEFA tournament qualifiers.

In 2024, D. Mikelionis defended the "Kauno Žalgiris" goal 29 times, keeping it "clean" in 9 of those matches.

By the way, in the 2024 season, the player from Kaunas was called up to the national team of the Lithuanian men's football team again after a three-year break.
