Kaunas Žalgiris football club has retained the breakout player Oyinlola Kayode for the 2025 season. The Kaunas club has agreed on a new long-term contract with the 22-year-old footballer.

The player, who moved to Kaunas from Nigeria in the fall of 2021, spent the 2023 season on loan with Marijampolė's Sūduva, and in 2024, he put on the green and white jersey again.

In the second half of the season, O. Kayode changed positions and managed to establish himself in the Kaunas Žalgiris team – he played in the starting lineup for an impressive 14 consecutive matches, and throughout the whole season in the TOPsport A league, he scored 2 goals and provided 4 assists. O. Kayode also added another goal in the LFF Cup tournament.

"I like it in Kaunas, I can develop personally here, and I want to help the team even more in the upcoming season," said the Žalgiris player to Žalgiris.lt.

In August, O. Kayode was also recognized as the best young player of the month in the TOPsport A league.

After the season, it also became clear that in the upcoming season, Numanas Kurdičius, Žanas Benedičičius, Maxime Spano Rahou, Matias Rale, and Seth Sincere would not wear the Kaunas Žalgiris jersey.
