Spain - Greece 1 - 1

28' [1 - 0]

66' [1 - 1]

In the first part of the match, the ball was more controlled by the Spanish footballers. They managed to turn this advantage into a goal in the 28th minute of the match, when after a pass from Raul, Fernando Morientes deceived the defender with a feint and sent the ball into the far corner of the goal.

In the first half, Carlos Marchena stood out, receiving a yellow card and making rough challenges on Greek footballers.

After the break, the Spaniards, content with the result, slowed down the pace of the match. Spain's captain Raul missed a good opportunity when he shot over the goal after a pass from Joaquin.

The Greeks played on the counterattack and took advantage of one in the 66th minute through Angelos Charisteas. After a mistake by defender Ivan Helguera, he received the ball free and despite the efforts of Iker Casillas, he sent the ball into the net.

The draw no longer satisfied the Spaniards, so they began to pressure the Greeks. Joaquin played very actively on the right flank, but the Greeks defended reliably and secured the draw.
