Madrid's "Atletico" took an important step towards the first knockout round of the Champions League in a dramatic match.

At the "Metropolitano" stadium, "Atletico" defeated Bayer Leverkusen 2:1.

In the 25th minute, the home team's midfielder Pablo Barrios was sent off for a rough foul.

During added time of the first half, Piero Hincapie put "Bayer" ahead.

"Atletico" did not give up – in the 52nd minute, Julian Alvarez equalized the score.

Finally, in the 76th minute, the teams were equalized in strength – P. Hincapie received a second yellow card and was sent off.

In the 90th minute, J. Alvarez secured the victory for the "Atletico" players.
