"Manchester City" club's head coach Pep Guardiola spoke about the amounts being spent on purchases in January and reminded that other teams are also not shying away from splurging:

"I know that people say that the 'Citizens' are spending money again. Every capable team is looking around the market, every single one of them."

"Every successful club in England over the last two or three decades has spent more than all the others. The fact is that in the last five years we are 11th in terms of money spent on new players.”

"People also say they will be happy if 'Man City' does not advance to the next UEFA Champions League stage. New signings? Yes, maybe."

"Manchester City" has spent 152 million euros during this transfer window and is also hoping to acquire Turin's "Juventus" left-back Andrea Cambiaso.
