The director of Birmingham's Aston Villa club, Monchi, revealed to the Cope portal that João Félix nearly ended up in this team last summer and spoke about the rumors regarding the possible signing of Marco Asensio:

"J. Félix? Unai Emery knows his talent very well. We were close to enticing him last summer. In recent years, the Portuguese has consistently been on our radar.

J. Félix is a great talent and he needs the right environment... But it's not an easy deal.”
