Manchester United's team officially announced ambitious plans.
The Manchester team intends to build a 100,000-seat stadium over the next five years.
The new football sanctuary will rise next to the legendary Old Trafford arena and will cost around £2 billion.
The current stadium, which accommodates 74,000 spectators, has been home to Manchester United for the past 115 years.
"We want to make sure that we can build the most iconic stadium for the greatest club in the world," said the team's manager Omar Berrada.
However, it remains unclear how the Manchester team, which has £1 billion in debt, will finance the construction of the largest stadium in England and the second largest in Europe.
