A rare incident has been recorded in Bulgarian football.
It is reported that during a match last weekend between Sofia's "Levski" and Kerdzhali's "Arda," a minute of silence was held in honor of a supposedly deceased former football player.
However, it later became clear that the players in the center of the field and the spectators in the stands were mourning in vain – Petko Ganchev was alive and well, driving around the city streets.
Later, he stated that the misunderstanding caused a lot of stress for his wife and friends.
"I didn't make it to the start of the match because I had other commitments. Suddenly, my phone began to ring off the hook with calls.
I drove the car to my house and found my wife crying in the yard, who said that the television had reported my death," explained the former "Arda" team player.
Shortly afterwards, the Kerdzhali club publicly apologized for the false information.
