The head coach of London’s Chelsea club, Enzo Maresca, revealed that not qualifying for the Champions League would not be a disappointment for this team:
"Compared to the previous two seasons, it would not be a failure.”
"How many times in the last couple of seasons have the ‘aristocrats’ been in this tournament? How many? Zero. How many times have the ‘Blues’ been in the Champions League zone this season? Practically the entire season.”
Is this progress, or not? It is progress because we have been in this zone practically the whole season. Right now, we will try to do everything to get there, there is no doubt about that. We want to finish in this zone. Will we be happy if we qualify for the Champions League? Yes. Is that enough? No, because we want to compete for titles. But compared to a few previous seasons, I think it is clear that we are moving forward. If you want to see it, you see it. If you don’t want to, you don’t see it. I believe we are progressing.”
The London Chelsea club is sharing the 6th-7th position in the English Premier League with 57 points.
