This weekend, the UEFA Intertoto Cup tournament begins, with a total of 61 teams participating, representing 44 out of 52 UEFA member associations. In the first stage, taking place on Saturday and Sunday, 42 teams will participate. Among them - teams from Klaipėda and Vilnius. By the way, for the first time in the history of Lithuanian football, two clubs will represent Lithuania in the Intertoto competition. 19 teams will start competing in the Intertoto Cup from the second or third stage. Tomorrow, the football players of Vilnius "Vėtra" will meet the team of "FC Trans" from Narva, Estonia at the capital's "Žalgiris" stadium. The match begins at 18:30. In total, there will be 8 games tomorrow out of 21. On Sunday, the football players from the port city will start in the Intertoto competition as well. Although the chances for the people of Klaipėda seemed to fall from the sky, in the first stage, they drew probably the strongest and most difficult opponent out of all participating in the first stage. "Atlantas" team will have to fight against the famous team from Moscow.
