The duo of coaches of the Swedish national team, Tommy Söderberg and Lars Lagerback, differ. T. Söderberg is stepping down from the national team and will now coach youth teams. He took over the national team in 1998, and in 2000, Tommy Söderberg and Lars Lagerback became equal co-coaches.
L. Lagerback's assistant will be Roland Andersson, who this year assisted England's national team coach, Sven Goran Eriksson.
In these European Championships, the Swedish national team advanced to the quarterfinals, where they lost to the Netherlands in a penalty shootout.
T. Söderberg is the fifth coach to step down from the national team after the European Championship. Before him, Otto Baric (Croatia), Giovanni Trapattoni (Italy), Rudi Völler (Germany) and Iñaki Saez (Spain) stepped down.
