The Spanish team has filed a lawsuit against their former team coach Rafael Benitez for breach of contract and is demanding 2 million euros in compensation.
Recently joined the team, Benitez also plans to sue his former team for unpaid wages.
"Everyone must defend their interests," said Valencia president Jaime Orti to Spanish radio. "We filed a lawsuit against Benitez because he didn't fulfill his contract."
The Spanish sports newspaper "Marca" claims that Valencia intends to recover 2 million euros from the 44-year-old coach.
Meanwhile, according to reports in the press, Benitez could also sue the club himself, which allegedly owes him 1.6 million euros in wages and various bonuses.
