European Football Association (UEFA) today announced the selected Euro-2004 All-Star team, which consists of two goalkeepers, seven defenders, seven midfielders, and seven forwards.

This symbolic team of 23 people was selected by the UEFA technical group. It consists of eight experts - Roy Hodgson, Gerard Houllier, Anghel Iordanescu, Gyorgy Mezei, Holger Osieck, Jozef Venglos, Berti Vogts, and Andy Roxburgh.

"This idea is aimed to recognize the best players who adorned the event. People who showed leadership, amazing attacking skills, and good goalkeeping. It was a difficult choice, but we finally reached a common decision. The team is composed based on the tournament, not on reputation," said UEFA technical director Andy Roxburgh.

Also, the best player of the tournament was selected - Greece's national team captain Theodoros Zagorakis. When selecting this award, the technical group also took into account the votes of football fans on the official tournament website.

"He was the captain, the best player in the first and last matches. He was influential and led the team, he is also a good player - we could see his skill and technique in the final," praised former Liverpool coach Gerard Houllier.

In the symbolic championship team - five Greek champions players, four Portuguese and English players each, three Czechs, two Swedes, and one Italian, German, French, Danish, and Dutch player respectively.
