Restructuring at the London club continues - by mutual agreement, the contract of the team's veteran and captain Marcel Desailly has been terminated.

The 35-year-old defender previously wanted to stay at the club for years, as his contract was valid until 2005. However, coach Jose Mourinho arrived and stated that the team should not have surplus players.

Initially, full-back Juan Sebastian Veron was loaned to Inter, then striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink was released, and now it is the turn of team captain Desailly.

Six years ago, Desailly moved from Milan to Chelsea. In this English club, he played 222 matches, captaining 94 of them.

Now Desailly will return to southern France, where he will decide whether he wants to continue his career. Recently, after the unsuccessful Euro 2004, the defender decided to retire from the French national team, for which he represented 116 times.
