World Football Association (FIFA) has announced an updated July national team ranking. The Lithuanian national team dropped five positions and reached the lowest point in its football history - 115th place.

The top three leaders remained unchanged: Brazil stayed in first place, while France and Spain, not successful in the European Championship, remained in second and third place respectively.

Czech Republic climbed seven places to the fourth position, showing an impressive performance in the Euro-2004 tournament but falling after losing to Greece. The latter, becoming the European champion, rose by 21 positions in the ranking but did not surpass the runner-up Portugal, which is now in 12th place.

Latvia, despite unsuccessful play in Portugal, remained in 53rd place, while Estonia dropped seven places to 82nd.

Lithuania's future opponents in the World Cup qualifying group were not successful either. They (except Spain) are placed as follows: Belgium dropped seven places, Serbia and Montenegro dropped four places, Bosnia and Herzegovina dropped 73 places, and San Marino dropped one place.
