Yesterday, the presidents of the Spanish super club Real Madrid and the Champions League winner met behind closed doors for a long time to discuss the purchase of two "Porto" players - and Costinha. The result of the negotiations was summarized in one word - "failed".
The president of the Royal club, Florentino Perez, stated that "Porto" is asking for too much money for their players.
"We couldn't reach an agreement, as we are not willing to pay unreal amounts for two players," said Perez.
"Porto" president Pinto da Costa stated that he will not make any concessions to the Madrid club: "These players are European champions, and I do not intend to sell them for a cent less than they are worth."
"Perez tried to offer me Carvalho on loan, but I immediately rejected this proposal," da Costa continued.
It is believed that da Costa wanted to receive a significant amount of money for these two players and Real Madrid striker Fernando Morientes, but now it seems that the negotiations have broken down and nothing should happen in the near future.
