The club's sports director, Jorge Valdano, denied any rumors about a possible crisis in the team and stated that he hoped "Real" would win the Spanish championship and the Champions League this year.

“We put a lot of effort into the match against 'Zaragoza,' and the consequences were the loss to 'Athletic Bilbao,’” Valdano justified the team's poor form. “But this is a short streak of failures - the team is in really good shape.”
