Argentina's national team and striker Hernan Crespo will wear the jersey of the Italian champions next season - both clubs agreed on a one-year loan.
For some time, there have been talks that Crespo might leave London, as he did not quite fit into the plans of the new Chelsea coach, Jose Mourinho. The player was given two weeks to decide, and it seems he has decided to return to Italy for at least a season.
Milan has been looking for a fourth striker to join Filippo Inzaghi, Andriy Shevchenko, and Jon Dahl Tomasson. At first, the club was more interested in Bernardo Corradi, but after his move to Parma, they started focusing on the Argentine.
Yesterday evening, Crespo arrived in Italy, and today, after sorting out the final details and passing the medical examination, he should be officially presented.
29-year-old Crespo has already spent a long time in Italy during his career - initially representing Parma, later moving to Rome's Lazio for a record sum, and then being sold to Milan when the club was in a poor financial situation. He was bought by Chelsea after just one season at Milan.
"The idea of returning to Italy gives me great pleasure. But don't talk to me about it until I have finalized the last details and undergone the medical examination," the player said.
"I am pleased that Crespo is here. This is the decision that everyone in the club wanted, and it is undoubtedly a gift for the fans," said Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani.
