When it seemed that Argentina would win their 15th "Copa America" champions title with a 2-1 victory against Brazil, defending their honor, Adriano equalized the score in the last minute of the match. The world champions did enough to later win the penalty shootout 4-2.
In the 20th minute of the match, Argentina took the lead. After a mistake by Brazilian Luisao, a penalty was awarded to the Brazilian goal, which Kily Gonzalez converted, leaving no chance for goalkeeper Julio Cesar.
At the end of the first half, Luisao redeemed his mistake - directing a penalty kick from Alex into the goal with his head, Luisao equalized the score.
Almost dominating the entire second half, the Argentinians took advantage until just 3 minutes remained in regular time. Juan Pablo Sorin headed the ball to Cesar Delgado, who appeared on the field as a substitute, and he kicked the ball into the far corner of the goal.
It seemed that Argentina had won the final, but the tournament's top scorer Adriano managed to shoot the ball into the goal amidst a crowd of players.
Not the strongest lineup for the Brazilian national team, this was their 7th "Copa America" champions title.
