In the first leg of the UEFA Champions League second qualifying round matches, Lithuanian champions FBK "Kaunas" played a goalless draw with Swedish champions Stockholm "Djurgardens".
FBK "Kaunas" started the match cautiously with the goal of not conceding a goal and counterattacking quickly. This was evident in their 4-5-1 formation on the field. "Djurgardens" had a slight territorial advantage, but the Swedes, currently in 7th place in the highest Swedish "Allsvenskan" league, could not break through the dense Kaunas defense. Meanwhile, the Lithuanians launched several dangerous counterattacks in the first half. The young player had a real chance to score, but his shot missed completely next to the goal. "Djurgardens" responded with several dangerous attacks towards the end of the first half, where one of them was saved by our team's crossbar.
In the second half, especially towards the end, the better physical fitness of the Swedish champions became apparent. They had more ball possession and took shots at the goal. In the final minutes, FBK "Kaunas" players simply couldn't keep up with their opponents and the defense was quite open, but the Swedes certainly did not play their best game, so the result remained 0-0 until the end of the match.
The second leg will take place in Kaunas next week.
