Rome's new team appointed Italian Domenico Caso as their coach. The 50-year-old strategist signed a one-year contract.
Having been the coach of "Lazio" youth team from 1992-1997, Caso returned to this position last year. A month ago, after Roberto Mancini moved to , he temporarily took over the position of head coach. In his previous career, Caso has worked in "Serie-B" with clubs like "Foggia," "Chievo," and "Pistoiese."
Caso was one of three contenders for the position of "Lazio" coach. It is believed that he competed for this position with the legendary Dino Zoff, who trained the Rome club three years ago, and former "Reggina" coach Giancarlo Camolese. However, the club decided to trust the team to Caso, who knows the team better.
"Lazio" president Claudio Lotito believes that Caso will be a suitable coach and will lead the club forward: "Caso is the best choice. He will be able to maintain order in the team and, with his experience, will continue to educate the youth. This choice confirms the path that the club wants to take in the future."
Caso is happy to have received the biggest opportunity of his career, but he promises nothing: "I want to thank the president and all the players who worked with me in Japan (during the preseason trip - ed.), because they made this happen. I cannot promise anything to the fans, I can only say that we will work hard.
"The team has its tactical identity, but it needs some new faces. I will ask the president for some sacrifices, and I hope he will agree to my requests." - Caso spoke and also added - in the future, he hopes to have four or five new players in the team.
