Two of the most active Italian clubs in the transfer market, Milan and Florence, today announced their latest acquired players: Milan has added defender Ze Maria to their team, while Florence has acquired defender Tomas Ujfalušis.
31-year-old Brazilian Ze Maria played last season for a club that was relegated to Serie-B. "Inter" had been negotiating with the player for some time, and have now officially signed a two-year contract. The transfer fee was not disclosed, but it is reported to be around 2 million euros.
"They wanted me and I wanted Inter. After long negotiations, the clubs reached an agreement. I hoped to join such a great club, and at this age it is a now or never opportunity. I want to show people that I deserve this chance," said Ze Maria.
"Inter" coach Roberto Mancini was pleased with the acquisition of Ze Maria, as well as Serbian Sinisa Mihajlovic: "They are two champions joining a team that is already very competitive."
"Fiorentina", back in Italy's top league, will pay 7.5 million euros for Czech national team midfielder Ujfalušis.
The 26-year-old player spent four years in Germany, and his impressive performance in the recent European Championship attracted the attention of top clubs like ,.
"I liked being here, but I asked Hamburg to let me go. A childhood dream will become a reality for me when I play in Italy, so it was a decision from the heart," said Ujfalušis. "I will take on a new challenge and I believe the team is strong enough to be at the top of Serie A."
