It is reported that the new coach of the Champions League winners will be former Sevilla coach Victor Fernandez.
The Portuguese champions began looking for a new coach at the end of last week, after dismissing coach Luigi del Neri who had not led the team in any official matches. It is said that the club's management was upset by the new coach's frequent absence from team training sessions, but the true reasons have not been revealed yet.
Current coach Claude Puel was linked with Porto and it is believed that the Portuguese club made a specific offer to the Frenchman, but the coach rejected the offer. Then the club's leaders decided to offer the position of head coach to former Vigo "Celta" and "Zaragoza" coach Fernandez, who is currently not coaching any team.
The 43-year-old Fernandez's official presentation is expected to take place today at the club's press conference.
