The forward of the Spanish champions Miguel Angelis Angulo has caught the attention of English champions, says the player's agent.
The forward Angulo, who has represented the Spanish national team and can also play in a defensive position, recently rejected an offer from Valencia to extend his contract and is believed to want to leave the club.
According to the player's agent, Arsenal is interested in his client and has started negotiations with the Spanish champions regarding a possible player purchase.
Reports in football circles suggest that Arsenal is looking for a new forward, as Jeremie Aliaderie suffered an injury in the "Community Shield" final on Sunday, and forwards Sylvain Wiltord have moved to other clubs. Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger now has only two forwards at his disposal: Thierry Henry and veteran Dennis Bergkamp.
"London's Arsenal is interested in my client and has already made an offer to Valencia," said Jose Luis Tamargo, the 27-year-old Spaniard's agent, to a foreign football news portal.
Tamargo also confirmed to journalists that Angulo rejected Valencia's offer to extend his contract: "They offered us to extend the contract, but the conditions were completely unacceptable to my client."
It is said that the managers of Arsenal and Valencia will meet today to discuss the details of a possible transfer. The player himself has not commented on his potential move to England.
