The president of the Spanish super club, Joan Laporta, claims that the Cameroonian national team striker Samuel Eto'o is already "almost" a member of Barcelona.
With this statement, the saga of the Cameroonian striker's transfer, resembling a detective story every day, seems to have come to an end.
This summer, Eto'o has repeatedly expressed his desire to leave and it seems that his wish will finally come true,
"Eto'o will become a member of Barcelona in the next 12 hours," Laporta stated.
The star of the Catalan club, Brazilian Ronaldinho, declared a few days ago that he wants to see the Cameroonian in Barcelona: "A player must play where he wants. And Eto'o wants to play at Barça - he has said it many times. He is a top-level player and I would like to play alongside him."
Meanwhile, Barcelona coach Frank Rijkaard stated a week ago that he does not need Eto'o. It is worth mentioning that Barcelona now has two true forwards - Javier Saviola and Henrik Larsson, but midfielders Ronaldinho and Ludovic Giuly can also play in the attacking line.
This statement by the Barcelona president means that Eto'o, whose 50% rights belong to the fiercest rival of Barcelona, the Madrid club, will become the property of the Catalan super club at the latest tonight. Stay tuned for news...
