This year, the team that made it to the highest English league ("Premiership") terminated the contract with Lee Hughes, who was sentenced to six years in prison.
The 28-year-old Englishman was found guilty of causing an accident in which Douglas Graham died. In November 2003, Hughes' "Mercedes" crashed into a "Renault" around midnight, fatally injuring Graham who was sitting in the back seat. The player denied his guilt.
After the court's verdict, "WBA" released a statement announcing the termination of the contract with the player, which was supposed to be in effect for another two years. The club's official statement reads: "The club would like to express deep condolences to the entire Graham family for the death of Mr. Douglas Graham."
