The UEFA Disciplinary Commission has disqualified Glasgow team's security guard Alex Rae for five matches, because during last Tuesday's Champions League third qualifying round match with Moscow he pushed his opponent, Moldovan Serguei Dadu, in the head.
The 34-year-old Scotland national team player, who returned to his country this summer from England where he represented a club, defended himself by saying he did not want to push his opponent: "There was the ball, and he put his head between my leg and the ball. Of course, everything looked worse than it really was, and the referee took no action."
This incident was not mentioned in the report of referee Jan Wegereef, but UEFA regulations allow the use of video footage after the match as evidence to punish for forbidden actions that were not noticed by the referee or his assistants.
The Scottish club can file an appeal until Thursday, and it will be examined before the return match on August 25. "CSKA", which has Lithuanian Deividas Šemberas among their ranks, won the first match at home with a score of 2-1.
