Surprises in the Olympic tournament © EuroFootball.com

The group stage matches of the Olympic football tournament have come to an end. In the final matches of groups B and D, there were quite a few surprises - victories were achieved by teams that were not expected to win.

The European youth champion Italy lost to the Paraguayan team, but advanced to the quarterfinals due to an unexpected victory by Japan against the Ghanaian team.

Tragically, the tournament ended for one of the favorites, the Portuguese team, which after losing to Costa Rica not only lost hope of advancing to the next stage but also remained in the last place, as in the other group matches Morocco defeated the Iraqi team.

In the quarterfinals, Paraguay will face South Korea, Italy will play against Mali, Argentina against Costa Rica, and Iraq will compete against the Australian team.
