In the 17th round of the Lithuanian Football Championship, there were quite a few surprises that allowed some teams to distance themselves from their rivals, while others caught up with them.
Panevėžys' "Ekranas", playing UEFA Cup second qualifying round second leg matches on Thursday, dropped to third place after losing to local "Atlantas" in Klaipėda.
In the Vilnius derby, "Žalgiris" unexpectedly secured an easy victory by crushing the rest of "Vėtra" without Valdas Ivanauskas, "Kaunas" lost two points at home against the underdog "Sūduva", while the match between "Vilnius" and "Šilutė" ended in a draw.
