Dutch national team and club goalkeeper Sander Westerveld is changing clubs. The player has been loaned to another "La Liga" club for a year.
The 29-year-old player's contract with Real Sociedad expires in 2005. The San Sebastian club previously announced its intention to sell the player. It is believed that they wanted to do this not because of poor goalkeeper performance, but because of the poor economic situation of the team.
The Dutchman arrived in Spain in the middle of the 2001-02 season from Liverpool. His excellent performance as a goalkeeper in the 2002-03 season helped the club to only lose the champion title to the "Real" players who had won it in the last round and to take second place in the championship.
