Swedish Marcus Allback is leaving the club. He was sold to a Bundesliga team for an undisclosed sum, with whom he signed a two-year contract.
The 31-year-old forward arrived in England in 2002 from a club for 2 million pounds. He failed to establish himself in the Aston Villa team, and during his time there he only played in 16 matches.
"I never regretted the move to Aston Villa," the player said. "At that time, it was a good decision, and I wanted to play in the Premier League. Not everything went well for me, but everyone, including the fans, were great to me. I'm sorry it didn't work out for me."
