Finally, an agreement has been reached with Monaco and the Argentine national team striker Javier Saviola. The player will be loaned out to Monaco this season, following last season's UEFA Champions League finalist team.

Saviola, who received Spanish citizenship today, will undergo a medical examination tomorrow and then will be officially presented to Monaco supporters.

The Argentine will return to Barca after this season, as there is no clause in his contract with Monaco giving the French team priority in acquiring him.

Barca and Monaco have been negotiating for Saviola for a long time and now, with the Catalan club acquiring Samuel Eto'o, there is no longer room for the Argentine in the starting lineup.

Saviola himself also seems happy with the move and believes it is the right step in his career.

"I hope to be happy in Monaco," said Saviola. "I have experienced many happy moments at Barcelona, so I want to thank the whole team for that."

"I have no right to be angry about this, so I respect the club's decision to loan me out."

Monaco fans hope that Saviola will be the second Fernando Morientes, who last season was loaned out from Madrid and was a true leader for the team, helping the club reach the UEFA Champions League final.
