Today, the champions of the Netherlands, Ajax, announced that the club has signed a four-year contract with Mauru Rosales, the Argentine gold medalist from the Athens Olympics football tournament.
Rosales, who currently represents the club "Newell's Old Boys," has already signed a contract with the Dutch football giant, but the club's statement says that certain formalities need to be completed by midnight on Tuesday, otherwise the transfer may be canceled.
It is believed that the necessary documents allowing Rosales to represent the Amsterdam club in the Champions League tournament are required.
"We are very pleased to have found the right winger we needed," said Ajax coach Ronald Koeman to journalists. "He is a member of the Argentine national team and recently won the Olympic tournament."
During the Olympic football tournament in Athens, Morales scored one goal in six matches.
Morales, who has been representing "Newell's Old Boys" since 1999, will remain in Argentina until the end of the week, as he has been called up to represent his country in the match against the Peru national team.
Morales made his debut for the Argentine national team in June in a match against Brazil, and has already represented his country nine times. He also played in six matches for the country's Olympic team.
Meanwhile, another Dutch football giant, PSV Eindhoven, has decided not to lag behind its fiercest rival and has set their sights on another Olympic champion, Carlos Tevez. This Argentine national team talent became a true star of the Olympics in Athens, scoring eight goals, including the winning goal in the tournament final.
It is reported that Boca Juniors in Buenos Aires rejected an initial offer of 13.5 million euros and demands a much larger sum. It is not yet clear whether PSV will offer a higher amount for this twenty-year-old forward.
