The average team of the Spanish championship, Sevilla, bought the defender Edu from the Vigo club in the second league for 5.5 million euros.

The 25-year-old Brazilian, who has played once for the national team, signed a five-year contract with Sevilla. Edu joined "Celta" in 2000 from the team "Sao Paulo" and played in the Spanish club for over four years, participating in more than 100 matches.

Edu, who has dual citizenship of Brazil and Italy, became the third purchase of "Betis" this summer. Before that, the Sevilla club bought the forward Ricardo Oliveira and left-back Paolo Castellini from Valencia for 4 million euros.

In the first match of the new Spanish championship season, "Betis" played a draw with the newly promoted team "Numancia" in the highest Spanish league for the first time.
