Former Germany national team coach Rudi Voller arrived in Rome today, where he was officially appointed as the new coach of AS team, replacing Cesare Prandelli who resigned due to family reasons.
"Roma" was also linked with two Italian coaches - Serse Cosmi and Luigi del Neri, but the team offered the position to Voller. The coach was also offered a place in Leverkusen team, but the former "Roma" player decided to return to the eternal city team, for which he played as a striker for five seasons in the nineties.
"I will participate in the first team training very soon," Voller said. "There are still a few formalities left, but I hope I can give the club what they expect from me."
"Roma" is also finalizing contract formalities with Egypt national team player Mido. The 21-year-old striker should officially join the Roma team by midnight, as that's when the summer transfer market closes.
Earlier, "Roma" tried to acquire the young Brazilian Luis Fabiano and the star of the Sweden national team and Amsterdam club Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but the first moved to Milan, and the second to Turin, so "Roma" opted for an alternative option.
