Brazilian forward Ailton from Gelsenkirchen was fined $18,000 and suspended for four matches for his actions during and after this weekend's Bundesliga matches.

The player was sent off the field in the 45th minute of the match, and then missed a random doping test because he left the stadium facilities while the competition was still ongoing. Ailton received a red card for fighting with two "Rostock" players.

Schalke's forward Ailton, who is in his thirties, stumbled along with Uwe Mohrle and Joakim Persson. "I behaved like an amateur on the field. I would like to apologize to my teammates, fans, and the club. I should not have let this happen," Ailton said about the incident.

Despite scoring the most goals in the previous Bundesliga season and helping Bremen's "Werder" become German champions, Ailton has not yet scored for Schalke. This season, the Gelsenkirchen club has only won one out of three matches.
